THE SADDEST BOOK IN THE WORLD

There is a body of opinion that Microwave Cooking For One is the saddest book in the world. Up until today, I would have agreed, until I saw this little gem in a local charity shop:

I make no apology to colonial readers who have no idea of the life (and death) of Rod Hull, needless to say there are probably people out there who still think that the bird did it, and this book is all the evidence they need.

Poor, dead Rod Hull. Poor, lonely Emu.

Yes, Rod Hull and his Emu was a staple of American TV in a certain era also. I say we tar and feather that emu. Heck, half the work is already done...

Well, given the uses and abuses of socks amongst the single gentleman... I reckon it was extenuating circumstances.

We used to have Rod Hull and Emu on TV here in the states during the '70s on a show called "The Hudson Brothers". Until the show got canceled a year later..
