On my new favourite singer/songwriter/chanteuse
Yeah, Megan Washington.
An up-and-coming chanteuse living in that there Australia of whom I knew diddly until about a month ago until I chanced across a Twitter post by (I think) the highly esteemed Father Ted writer Graham Linehan praising the Keith Loutit Bathtub IV video, which I subsequently posted here.
Eschewing my usual approach to people of a certain celebrity (pick-axe handle, tin bath, sack of quicklime), I approached the charming Ms Washington via MySpace and learned of her plans for a mini-album next month.

On unexpected anniversaries
My mother died, aged 61, in May 2000. Today would have been her 70th birthday.
Happy birthday, Mum.
Not crying. Just got something in my eye. Both eyes.

Full of teh kind, and full of teh fun...and always did her best to get you out of teh trouble if you were involved in a Scary misadventure before you had to go home and face your own parents.

Scary, nice of you to remember your mum like that.
You can't beat a good mum to set you up for life, so that you are able to cope with what life throws at you.
I've seen it so many times - people with "issues" as adults so often had real trouble with their own parents.
I'm trying to do the best for my kids, like my parents did for me.

I truly believe that we have reached the point where technology has become one with our world, and I am 99% certain that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as memory becomes less expensive, the possibility of uploading our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could see in my lifetime.
